Nick holds a degree in Physics and spent the first period of his career in the nuclear industry, in both development and operational roles. This was followed by 8 years at the University of Oxford working on the design and manufacture of Particle Physics detectors. He has since spent over 20 years in the fibre optics industry in a number of commercial and management positions.
Nick has been a company director for nearly 15 years, and has been the Managing Director of AFE since its formation in 2005.
He is a member of both the Institute of Physics and Institute of Directors.
Tony joined the AFE board in 2013, having worked with the AFE management team at all stages of the company’s growth since its inception in 2005.
Tony’s broad background in manufacture and quality systems has seen him work with organisations of every size, helping them to change, grow and continually improve. His knowledge of manufacturing techniques like kaizen and lean is drawn from his time with automotive leaders such as Honda and BMW.
Mark joined the AFE board in 2013, taking responsibility for technology leadership and business development.
He had previously held senior positions in blue-chip and niche technology businesses within automotive (Delphi and TRW) and aerospace (Cobham and HAV). These roles saw Mark oversee significant development contracts, such as diesel fuel injection systems for Freightliner trucks (Delphi) and the air-to-air refuelling system for the Airbus A400M (Cobham).
Mark holds a degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Coventry University and an MSc from Warwick. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
